20-22 Harkaway

The brief for this home was to be a “modern interpretation of the Hamptons” style of home.

Set amongst the hills of Harkaway, it is set down into the hill. The Hamptons style allowed us to create a really Picturesque looking home that suits the area. The exterior of the home looks a lot like most homes of this style with weather boards and a steep pitched roof. It is not until you enter the house do you come to appreciate the modern style of the home - with tall ceilings, square set plaster and spotted gum flooring. The kitchen is again, in the style of Hamptons but using a dark grey gives it a modern twist. The moment you step through the entry area your taken back by the fireplace and the picture framed windows that capture the rolling hills behind.

The land slopes away from the house allowing it to have a great aspect, nestled up a few metres off the ground is the outdoor alfresco area. With views of the cows in the paddocks bringing nature into the home.

Another way we modernised this design is moving away from timber framed double glazed windows to aluminium windows. The clients again, wanting that modern twist but with the benefit of little to no maintenance.
